So, I've wondered for quite sometime about what to write here, then it came to me, like, this is my blog, my space and therefore I should write about anything I want to! With that stabilished, it's absolutely fair that I share with you guys, who might as well share the same obssessions as me, what I'm up to lately.
Well, recently I've discovered this amazing world of people who like to live life as if the 2000s never left, from thrifting clothes to goind back to physical media and single function objects! I was amazed by everything I found about it, cause like, it was as if the world I knew in my childhood is still here and at the same time like the future I thought I would have back then had come true.
And so, I've dived deeper and deeper in this universe, searching for ways so I could to achieve this lifestyle I just started to admire. How, you ask me? That's exactly what I'm writing this for, tell you guys who might like the 2000s aesthetic and lifestyle as much as me, so you too can try these things!
First of all, try remembering how your life used to be back then, what was your routine? What would you watch on tv? What were the games you would play or the youtube videos you used to watch? What meals you used to eat? All those things can really bring you back to this great nostalgic times, I can say it worked for me.
Retro tech is also a thing if you're trying to achieve a y2k lifestyle, cybershots, early 2000s tvs and telephones, fliphones, cds and dvds, tho I haven't yet achieved all those things, I really thing those things can help making life feel like back in those times, also personalization can really make the magic happen, cause that's what we used to do back then.
By the way, this is my cybershot, directly from the 2000s, a real treasure. The pic is from the day I went to watch Michael.
Now that we've checked the first two items from the list, time to go to the third item, social media, something that became a huge part of our lifes ever since the rise of the smartphones, but as everything nowadays, the fun of it got lost in the middle of capitalism, marketing, ads, doom scrolling, AI and digital influencers. Do you still remember when it used to really be about the social? About interacting with your friends and seeing their posts? Feels like a long time ago, ever since the infinite timeline became a thing, I barely see my friends posts, their stories? Forget it. You'll see what the big corporations want you to see and that is: Everything that can make you unsatisfied with your current life so you have to buy what their selling as solution.
But don't worry! Not everything is lost because there's still good people out there dedicating their time to bring what social media used to be back! This one here is an example, but there's also Napoleonite, spacehey, afterlife, pi.fyi, nekoweb and neocities, these are great examples of places you can make your own space while also interacting and socializing with other people just like it used to be. Also for the fans of the late MSN, know that there's a revival going on right now, try searching for escargot msn on google and mamaze yourself.
Tv shows from the 2000s are also a great help when trying to go back in time, it helps with inspiration for your fashion, hair and make up, routine, while also bringing back that good nostalgic feelings from the times where tv shows were exactly this and not mini movies, oh how I love the 20 episodes format. The vampire diaries, Pretty little liars, Gilmore girls, Gossip Girl, 2 Broke Girls, My wife and kids, Smallville, Supernatural, the list is huge and reaches all kinds of tastes. Movies like romcoms, that were really popular back then, are also important, but they're not the only genre you can watch, just like tv shows there a huge catalog of movies from y2k you can try.
Going to books, for those like me who live and breathe for reading, sagas like Twillight, The vampire diaries, Pretty little liars, The mortal instruments, The hunger games where the hits, but as I said, you don't need to get limit yourself, make your own research on books from that time and find what interests you most. The most important thing is to have fun anyways.
For music, try throwback playlists, download music videos and watch them on media player, do that to your favorite songs too, why not? Buy yourself a mp3 player if can and if you're not a fan of spotfy, listen to the popular artists from the 2000s, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Brandy, Lady Gaga, Amy Whinehouse and so much others.
Well, I guess this is a great start of what it might become a series in my blog, next time I'm planning on going to the topic of personalization of your objects, devices and more.
That's it for today guys, bye now!
Xoxo. ^3^
